Job Description

Brook Farm’s Animal Care Assistants work with our doctors and technicians to help us provide exceptional veterinary care. They spend their time making sure our patients are comfortable and ensuring that their environment is spotlessly clean. Assistants remain friendly and flexible in the face of varying expectations from clients, doctors, and supervisors and never hesitate to help out wherever they can. Our assistants must understand both medicine and people quickly: their focus changes according to the priority of the moment, and as such they must multitask impeccably, think on their feet, and remain calm in difficult situations.

Hours may include nights and weekends.

Animal Care Assistants are:

  • Resourceful: you get the job done and can follow instructions.
  • Detail-Oriented: you ask questions and aim to do things correctly.
  • Positive: you maintain an even temper in a high-intensity, stressful environment.
  • Driven: you can cope with repetitive or continuous processes and inquiries.
  • Ready to Get Dirty: you know that caring for animals is often a dirty job.
  • Strong: you have the physical strength, dexterity, and reflexes to keep the pet, yourself, and other staff safe.
  • Quick: you respond quickly to frequent auditory signals, warnings, or communication from staff, animals, and medical equipment.
  • Open: you love learning (if you have past experience, prepare to adapt to our radically different way of working.)

We take talent acquisition seriously at Brook Farm and hire thoughtfully. We work with Wonderlic Consulting to verify the information listed on your resume and check references. Please be sure to read our statements on being a drug and smoke free workplace and an equal opportunity employer.
